Group Quantum Memories Laboratory
Research carried in QM Lab focuses on developing methods of precisely controlling single-photon holograms encoded in an ultracold atomic ensemble. In particular, new methods to modulate and retrieve the stored atomic holograms are developed beyond the typical Raman-scattering schemes. The research is done with a setup consisting of a magneto-optical trap which allows to cool and trap rubidium atoms, and single-photon sensitive cameras developed in our lab. This research is an important part of the rapidly developing field of quantum memories research and one of the few scenarios when spatial properties of atomic ensembles and light are harnessed together.
